File Sharing Service Deployment
Overview
Follow these steps to deploy and provision the File Sharing Service to customers within Atria.
Prerequisites
Network Requirements
On applicable firewalls, open SMB (port 445) and RPC (various ports) bi-directionally between the DNS server(s) and the Atria provisioning server. RPC uses random ports above 1056; therefore, non-stateful inspection firewalls may require all ports above 1056 to be open.
File Share Path Creation
If the required file share path does not exist when you configure the File Sharing service, Atria can create it automatically. To enable this, you must grant Atria the necessary permissions on the target file server. If you prefer not to grant these permissions, ensure that the desired file share is created manually before configuring the service.
If you allow Atria to create the folder for you, please note that permissions will be inherited from the parent drive or folder. You must manually update these permissions to remove defaults such as Local Users and Domain Users. Only the required Admin, Backup, and Service accounts should have access to the folder.
Deployment Steps
Step 1: Service Schema Installation
-
Login to your provisioning server.
-
Start an administrative PowerShell session.
-
Run the following command to add the service schema:
Import-AtriaServiceSchema -Service FSS
Step 2: Service Deployment Configuration
The following steps are for you to complete within the Atria platform. To configure the Hosted Exchange service:
- Enable the service at the top level:
- From the Atria menu bar, navigate to Configuration > System Manager > Service Deployment, then expand File Sharing.
- Expand Customer Plans
- Expand Default
- Enter the File Share Path
- Click Apply Changes, then Save.
If the specified path doesn't exist, Atria can create it, provided necessary permissions are assigned to Atria.
- Enable the service at the location level:
- Under Service Filter, select Active Directory Location Services and choose the Location you wish to deploy the service to.
- Expand File Sharing
- Expand Default
- Select your File Share Server(s)
- Click Apply Changes, then Save.
Step 3: Assign Server Roles
- Assign server roles:
- From the context menu, select Server Roles, then expand the entry for your file share server.
- Under Server Roles, tick File Sharing and then click Save.
