Overriding Workspace Item Configuration in a List
Overview
Workspace Items have default configuration inherited from its Workspace Item type. Most attributes can be changed at the item level on creation. Configuration can also be overridden at List level, catering for scenarios where you may need to alter naming, naming conventions, groups, billing references, icons etc.
In this scenario, we will create a new Workspace List, add some items and override the configuration for those items.
Details
The following scribe will step you through the process of adding a new List, then overriding some of the items within the list.
Customer Level Override
When items are provisioned to a customer, they are added to a special Private list that contains all of the Workspace Items that have been assigned to the customer.
As this is a list, the same mechanism can be applied to configure Workspace Items specifically for a customer.
To override at customer level, ensure the customer is in context.
select the Services > Workspace > Customer Workspace Items
menu option.
This will display all items assigned to the customer via the customers private Workspace List. Edit items using the elipsis on the right hand side of the grid.
Notes on Overriding Workspace Items
Workspace Items usually map to groups in Active Directory or Azure Active Directory. Once provisioned to a customer the Workspace Item becomes hard linked to a specific AD group by the internal identifier for that group.
